A Barclays note for investors claims that Apple could cut iPhone 16 series production by as much as three million units this year. Barclays analysts reportedly arrived at this information by analyzing Apple’s supply chain. This estimate is based on the fact that Apple cut orders with a key semiconductor partner in the December quarter.
Apple iPhone 16 production is on shaky ground!
Barclays expects 51 million iPhone 16 series units to be shipped by the end of the year. However, analysts noted that sales of the iPhone 16 series fell 15 percent compared to iPhone 15 sales in the same period last year. This decline could negatively affect the shipment figures for the September quarter.
It was revealed that Apple set a shipment target of 51 million units in the third calendar quarter covering July, August and September.
According to Barclays analysts, shipments of the iPhone 2024 series could be at risk in the last quarter of 16. Reasons include limited global adoption of Apple’s artificial intelligence technology and insufficient hardware differentiation in new devices. Analysts emphasized that it may be difficult for Apple to reach its targets in the last quarter of the year.
On the other hand, Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new iPhone SE 4 model in 2024. This new model will be equipped with a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID and A18 processor. Apple is expected to gain significant momentum in markets such as China and India with this model in the low price segment.
New iPad Air models are also expected to be introduced in 2024. According to Gurman, these models will have 11-inch and 13-inch options and will be supported by a new Magic Keyboard.
